How much do things define us? What do they say about our habits, our values, and our aspirations?

Growing up in a Filipino immigrant household, there are certain artifacts that recall the places that we left behind. These are remnants that, for me, help keep together an identity that is often fragmented or altogether forgotten. As much as anything else, these things, set in their quiet nooks and corners, are reminders that I am never really far from where I used to be.
